eLicytacje KAS portal launches: how to buy a car at a tax auction
On 1 July 2026 Poland's Ministry of Finance launched the eLicytacje KAS portal — a single place where tax offices publish all notices about the sale of property seized in administrative enforcement. The lots include cars. Here is how it works and how to buy a car at auction without overpaying.
What eLicytacje KAS is
Until now, auction and sale notices were scattered across the BIP pages of individual tax administration chambers — and sales are run by 366 tax offices nationwide. The new portal centralises this in one place with an intuitive search. Legal basis: the 15 May 2026 amendment to the administrative enforcement act (Dz.U. poz. 739).
What you can buy
The scope covers movable property (including vehicles, industrial machines, equipment), securities and real estate — houses, flats, plots, commercial units, production halls and warehouses.
Rollout schedule
- 1 July 2026 — first notices published,
- 21 July 2026 — electronic auctions start,
- 31 July 2026 — first private-treaty ("free-hand") sales.
How to take part
Browsing notices and watching auctions is possible without an account. To take part in a sale you must create a user profile and log in via login.gov.pl (trusted profile, e-ID or online banking). Deposit (wadium) and payment are cashless.
Buying a car at auction? What to watch for
An auction can be a bargain, but the risk is higher than a normal purchase:
- usually no test drive or full inspection — you judge condition from the description and photos,
- the starting price is not the market value — set your ceiling before the auction and stick to it,
- check the history on historiapojazdu.gov.pl (mileage, damage), legal status and any charges,
- work out the real market value of such a car — VARTOCAR valuation calculator →,
- if the car will go to Ukraine, add the customs cost: customs calculator →.
It is also worth planning a safe car purchase and OC/AC insurance in advance.
Bottom line
The portal improves the availability and transparency of enforcement sales and curbs bidding collusion. For a buyer it is a real chance at a bargain — provided you value the car and check it before the auction. More: elicytacje.mf.gov.pl.
