A business account for a car importer

A car importer pays abroad and sells in Poland — so the account is chosen for currency transfers, not for the advertised „PLN 0”.

What actually matters

• EUR transfers (SEPA) — daily bread when buying in Germany; differences between banks reach tens of zloty per transfer once conversion is involved.
• A EUR currency account — hold euros without double conversion; the exchange rate often matters more than the account fee.
• Transfers to Ukraine (UAH/SWIFT) — if you settle with partners or family, check the SWIFT cost and time.
• Conditional fees — a „PLN 0 account” often requires inflows or card activity; an importer's irregular turnover may never meet the condition.
• Bundled accounting — for a sole trader it can replace a separate subscription.

The account and your credibility

The turnover history on your Polish business account is your proof of income for a loan and leasing — the bank and lessor will ask for statements. Regular, legible flows build creditworthiness better than cash under the mattress.

Is a business account mandatory for a sole trader?
The law does not explicitly require a separate business account, but B2B transactions over 15,000 zł must go by transfer, and split payment and the white list operate on business accounts. In practice an importer can hardly operate without one.

Which matters more: the account fee or the exchange rate?
For car imports, usually the rate. On a transfer of tens of thousands of euros, the spread difference can exceed the annual cost of the most expensive account.
