Creditworthiness — how banks compute it

Creditworthiness is not a bank's whim — it is a computable ratio, and you can influence it before applying.

How the bank computes it

The core is DStI (Debt Service to Income) — all instalments against net income. The bank also applies the interest-rate buffer required by KNF: it checks whether you can carry the instalment at a higher rate too. On top: income stability, your BIK history and the number of active liabilities (including card limits — even unused ones reduce capacity).

What genuinely raises capacity

Compute before you apply

Every credit inquiry leaves a trace in BIK — first estimate your range yourself, then apply where you have a real chance. Compute the instalment in our loan calculator, and an indicative capacity by the bank's method — in the Finumero calculator.

FAQ

What is DStI?
The ratio of all monthly instalments to net income. The lower the better — the bank additionally tests it at a raised (buffered) interest rate, as required by KNF.

Does an unused card limit reduce creditworthiness?
Yes. Banks treat granted card limits and overdrafts as potential liabilities even if unused. Closing unnecessary limits before applying genuinely raises your capacity.
